THE LIFE OF JEAN SIBELIUS

Welcome to this site dedicated to Jean Sibelius. You may wonder this site has been created! Firstly to mark the 50th anniversary of the death of the composer and secondly of much less importance to mark the completion of the translation of his biography (more than 1,000 pages), a work that has taken one and a half years, the appraisal of countless references, visits to a multitude of specialized sites, libraries and museums, as well as the pleasure of listening to all of Sibelius' music and attending the concert given by Esa-Pekka Salonen and the Los Angeles Philharmonic in Paris this autumn at the Salle Pleyel. A special thanks to http://www.dolmetsch.com and more specifically their musical dictionary http://www.dolmetsch.com/musictheorydefs.htm and of course to all those who have contributed willingly or not as it is impossible to list all their names. You may ask whose book was translated, well for the moment you have to guess that...contact sumpinein@gmail.com
